Raised in the Bronx, New York, during my formative years, my mother introduced me to the world of fashion, which was her second passion—her first love being my brother and me. Under her guidance, I developed a deep affection for fashion, immersing myself in sketching clothing and accompanying her on shopping trips. By the time I turned 10, I had already recognized that fashion was my true calling.
In 2012, my mother tragically lost her battle with Lupus, leaving an indelible mark on my life. Determined to honor her memory, I embarked on a journey to become the best designer I could be. Every sketch and every stitch I create is a tribute to her legacy. In 2016, I established my own fashion brand, YATZ, which bears the initials of my beloved mother.
Over the years, I've crafted custom clothing and accessories, including tops, trousers, coats, and hats. Currently, my brand is in a continual state of growth and development, and I am simultaneously pursuing a full-time education in fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology, specializing in sportswear. My anticipated graduation year is 2024.
Looking ahead, my aspirations include earning a bachelor's degree in Fashion Design and working within the fashion industry, ideally for a luxury brand like Schiaparelli, Dior, Chanel, or preferably a black-owned fashion label.
My personal journey serves as a constant wellspring of inspiration for my work in the fashion industry. Each piece I craft tells a unique story, reflecting a part of my own experiences with the intention of resonating with others on their individual journeys. While also Simultaneously drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of the world around me, created by the divine.
